What's up friends and family! So this last month I hit my year mark on my mission! Crazy to think that I have been a missionary for that long. It has been an amazing experience and I wouldn't change it for anything!
It's been a couple months since I have written so I will try and catch y'all up to speed. I ended up staying in Ellensburg for a second transfer and I started another missionaries training, Elder Bradley. Elder Bradley was super fun to be with and I learned lots from him. He is from Illinois so we were just a couple of Midwest Elders running around Central Washington. I miss the YSA in Ellensburg a lot and will definitely be in touch with some of the friends I made there.
I'm now back in Yakima with Elder Childs! I am super excited to be back in Yakima where I started my mission. I am in the wide hollow ward now, which meets at the same church building as my old ward so I have been able to catch up with some old friends. Elder Childs is from Idaho Falls and has been out for about 6 months now. He served in Omak when I was in Coulee Dam so we were in the same district. I had gone on exchanges with him already so when I found out he was my companion I was way excited! I am serving on the west side of Yakima, the wealthier side, so it is actually quite a bit different from my past experience in Yakima, but I love it anyways. Funny story, but one of the missionaries I trained, Elder Horrocks, is now my District Leader! It is awesome to serve around him again. We had exchanges the other week and the unity between the two of us as we taught was incredible! It felt like we had never stopped being companions. Right now our friend, Dave, is preparing to be baptized this upcoming Saturday! He is a beast and is so prepared for the gospel. Cool story, but we were weekly planning with our mission president and he encouraged us to invite Dave to be baptized on our next visit with him. We had only met Dave at church and were yet to teach him a lesson, but we went in the next Tuesday and invited him to be baptized in a couple of Saturdays. He said he would love too and has since prepared himself to be baptized this Saturday! I am really proud of Dave and grateful I have been able to teach him.
Transfers are happening Thursday so I will find out tomorrow night if I am staying or not. I hope I stay, but I know God has a plan for me either way! Being back in Yakima has been a blast! I love the people of Yakima and I hope to develop this same love wherever I serve next!
Quick lil spiritual thought: John 15:10-12
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
I read these verses the other day in my personal study and I really liked them! God loves us all no matter what we do. But because God loves us he has given us commandments, or loving instructions, that allow us to always feel and abide in His love. One of the most important commandments he gave us was to love one another. As we strive to love and serve others we will feel God's love for us.
Have a great week everybody! Love yall!
