August 28, 2023

Yep the new area is awesome! Bishop Kestner is a homie for sure. (He texted a few pics of the 4 elders to us.) He just gets it. Most of the ward is actually way down to share the gospel so I'm hyped to work with them. Stevenson is also super green and the view are insane. Only downside is we are teaching like two people, kinda haha. We got dogged pretty hard last week, but I'm confident this next week will be different.

Pshh covid smovid. No shot I'm masking up or getting any sort of shot. I appreciate the heads up, but I will not be doing any of that. I got an immune system and that's all I need haha

The Thorne's 100% have a mansion reserved in Heaven. They are the literal best. Heidi and the rest of the youth are very blessed to have them as their teachers. Tim Nixon is on Saturday - woo woo! Heidi is going to kill it. I agree that is wild Heidi is a senior! I will have an awesome p-day for sure! Yep, Elder Adams will be taken care of!

Love you too!

August 21, 2023

Yep I'm in Stevenson now! Definitely gonna miss Yakima, but I am excited to be here in Stevenson. Oh also my friend Dave got baptized on Saturday and then was confirmed on Sunday! I wasn't able to he there, but the most important thing is that it happened. I'm way excited for him. Back to Stevenson though -  Stevenson definitely reminds me of Coulee Dam, we have a couple small towns, great nature, and there's even a dam, although it's not as big as the one in Coulee haha. The ward seems pretty cool. We will definitely be working on building members trust this transfer... as well as just working in general. Seems to be wherever I go the missionaries who were there last didn't work. Not a complaint, just what I've noticed. I'm excited to see what I can do here.

I will make sure to wish Heidi good luck with school. No way Holli spoke in sacrament meeting this week! In true twin fashion I also spoke this week haha. Mine was about faith and I used a funny lil b-ball analogy that the Holy Ghost planted in my mind the morning of haha. The talk streak stays undefeated! Yeah I'll give Hollis talk a read if I can!

Love you too! Have a phenomenal week!                                                                                                        - Elder Adams

p.s. no way Heidi is a senior 😳

Email from Madre: Good morning Cody!

That was so fun to see that you are in Stevenson now. We can’t wait to hear more about it - dad says it his mountains around, and your pic with the deer was fabulous.

Well Heidi starts school tomorrow, so wish her luck. Carson, Clay, and Rach start back next week.
Let’s see, Holli continued the family “talk” streak by giving a talk in her Stake Women’s conference last Saturday. It was literally fire, so I asked her to send it to me & dad, and then this morning I suggested that she send it to you. So if you get it, read it - its nothing new, but fresh thoughts on repentance - such a wonderful and needed message.
All goes well here. I hope you have a wonderful pday in your new area, and have a wonderful week! Love you tons Elder Adams!
❤️, Madre

Ps: here is a senior year pic for Heidi - Let’s go!

August 14, 2023 Letter to Family&Friends

What's up friends and family! So this last month I hit my year mark on my mission! Crazy to think that I have been a missionary for that long. It has been an amazing experience and I wouldn't change it for anything!

It's been a couple months since I have written so I will try and catch y'all up to speed. I ended up staying in Ellensburg for a second transfer and I started another missionaries training, Elder Bradley. Elder Bradley was super fun to be with and I learned lots from him. He is from Illinois so we were just a couple of Midwest Elders running around Central Washington. I miss the YSA in Ellensburg a lot and will definitely be in touch with some of the friends I made there.

I'm now back in Yakima with Elder Childs! I am super excited to be back in Yakima where I started my mission. I am in the wide hollow ward now, which meets at the same church building as my old ward so I have been able to catch up with some old friends. Elder Childs is from Idaho Falls and has been out for about 6 months now. He served in Omak when I was in Coulee Dam so we were in the same district. I had gone on exchanges with him already so when I found out he was my companion I was way excited! I am serving on the west side of Yakima, the wealthier side, so it is actually quite a bit different from my past experience in Yakima, but I love it anyways. Funny story, but one of the missionaries I trained, Elder Horrocks, is now my District Leader! It is awesome to serve around him again. We had exchanges the other week and the unity between the two of us as we taught was incredible! It felt like we had never stopped being companions. Right now our friend, Dave, is preparing to be baptized this upcoming Saturday! He is a beast and is so prepared for the gospel. Cool story, but we were weekly planning with our mission president and he encouraged us to invite Dave to be baptized on our next visit with him. We had only met Dave at church and were yet to teach him a lesson, but we went in the next Tuesday and invited him to be baptized in a couple of Saturdays. He said he would love too and has since prepared himself to be baptized this Saturday! I am really proud of Dave and grateful I have been able to teach him.

Transfers are happening Thursday so I will find out tomorrow night if I am staying or not. I hope I stay, but I know God has a plan for me either way! Being back in Yakima has been a blast! I love the people of Yakima and I hope to develop this same love wherever I serve next!

Quick lil spiritual thought: John 15:10-12

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

I read these verses the other day in my personal study and I really liked them! God loves us all no matter what we do. But because God loves us he has given us commandments, or loving instructions, that allow us to always feel and abide in His love. One of the most important commandments he gave us was to love one another. As we strive to love and serve others we will feel God's love for us.

Have a great week everybody! Love yall!

What's up Madre!

Holy cow that can't be right! I was just a senior yesterday so there's no way Heidi is one already haha. Yep, Heidi already sent an email, I'll have to respond after this. That's so awesome Coach Robert's came to church! Yeah he is an awesome guy. That's pretty funny a bunch of the fam was giving talks lol.

Yeah it's pretty hot down here and as much as I miss the humidity I'm glad it's pretty dry here when I'm wearing a white shirt, tie and dress pants. I already sweat like crazy so I can't imagine how I would be with the humidity. I will make sure to hydrate well. With the way time is passing it’s going to be fall before we know it and then the weather will be perfecto.

So tomorrow I'll find out about transfers which should be exciting. I think I will stay here, but you never know haha. Yes I will have a fabulous preparation day. I could do a better job for sure with my recent spending decisions lol. Also I will crank put a weekly email this week so I'm not gonna update yall a whole ton in this email, but look for that one. I love you too! I will keep on keeping on!

-Elder Adams

What's up Dad!

Yep this has been a great day so far! Elder Childs and I are certainly seeing some success, but hope to see more. This week is transfer week so I will find out tomorrow if I am staying or leaving. I think I will stay, but you never know haha.

Unfortunately I have not made it to the Moses Lake Open House and I don't think I will be able too. We were going to go on Saturday, but our friend wasn't able to make it and we can only go with a non-member. I still have a week left to try so we will see what happens!

The greatest experience this past week came when we taught our friend Sinaver. Sinaver is an older lady from Serbia and Saturday we met with her. As we were teaching I just felt a lot of love towards her kind of out of nowhere and I knew without a doubt that she really is a child of God. We all are, and he loves us all the same no matter where we have been or what we have done. It wasn't anything earth-shattering. but it was a special moment to me. Also I've been praying for charity and working on developing that Christlike attribute so it was definitely an answer to my prayers.

That is sweet that so many of us spoke Sunday! I did not haha. Dave is on date for the 19th now because of scheduling issues, but he met with President Welch already and is all good to go!

Love you dad!
