Preparation Day Change

To all parents and family members of missionaries in the Washington Yakima Mission:

The missionary department recently informed us that our missionary travel day (the day Elders and Sisters arrive from the MTC and return home as their mission is completed) will soon change from Friday to Wednesday.  To accommodate that change, our mission preparation day will move from Wednesday to Monday starting on June 10th.  Our final Wednesday preparation day will be on June 5th.

As a reminder, the missionary should initiate all text message conversations, online messaging, phone calls, and video chats. If you need to contact your missionary, please contact us first.

Also, the missionary handbook now states that a missionary's communication with friends outside the mission should be through email or letter only.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.  We love each of our missionaries and are grateful to be their leaders.  Thank you for your faith and support as we continue in our efforts to invite others to come unto Christ.

Sincerely,

President & Sister Welch

May 8, 2024

Good morning Mom!

yes it's crazy how fast the time flies by. I can hardly believe it's Wednesday already. That's crazy Heidi's last day is coming up. and no way her graduation is only like two weeks away. That's some AWESOME news for Heidi. Yep every bit helps that's for sure. (scholarships)

So today I'm headed to the temple with a recent convert, Eddie Fuentes. He was baptized two months ago into the Tieton Drive ward, the ward I'm serving in right now and we are going to do baptisms for the dad with him today. should be super awesome. Josue is doing good. we invited him to be baptized and he though about it for a while, but ultimately didn't feel ready to make that commitment yet. The good news is I think he may be ready in a few more weeks, but if not that's alright too. he lowkey hasn't even come to church yet, so we got our work cut out for us lol. I have faith tho.

We are also teaching Tito who we met for the first time last week. He's super prepared and we set expectations with him about baptism and having all 4 lessons last time we met with him and the plan right now is to invite him to be baptized today actually. So we'll see how that goes. Our ward mission leader, Bro Anderson, aka the goat is coming with us so it should be lit. We also teach two other people who will most likely be dropped and other then that other the last couple of weeks I've dropped like 15+ "green dots". I put that in parentheses because people who haven't been taught in 3 months shouldn't be green dots haha. We are on the finding grind big time, but we've found one person every week so far, Josue, tito and this girl ale. Our only other green dot is the only person found all the last transfer. Basically long story short nothing was done last transfer so I'm here to get my baby area back to speed. It has been slow going cause I was expecting to find more people then just 3 by now, but we're headed in the right direction at least. And I'm sure any day now we'll find more. Yes I'll be sure to wish you happy mothers day! Honestly we should celebrate every day, because like you said you're a mother every day. I will definitely call on mother's day!

I'm trying to think of what else has been going on out here so I can update you more, but honestly it's just been a lot of knocking doors lol. We had our last interview with President Welch like a week ago and that was really cool. A little sad, but it was cool because we talked about my patriarchal blessing and what it says about my mission. Super cool experience. I've been trying to get in contact with the people I used to teach here, but nothing has really happened more than some texts here and there. Also don't expect emails this long on the regular, but we're driving to Moses Lake right now so I figured I'd take advantage of this opportunity lol.

I love you guys too! Have a great week!

Good morning mom!!

Hey sorry I wasn't able to shoot out an email last week!  I was planning on responding and then we played ball in the morning then went to the park and my phone ended up dying so I never had a shot to reach out! I did pray for Heidi so I look forward to see how she did at conference! and thanks for looking out for my bank account. yes I need to do better w/ eating fast food #metanoia. thanks for the reminder!

Lil update on the area/ work in case I can't call later:

- we met a homie named Josue and had a church tour with him last week. He came to the US from the Dominican Republic when he was like 14. he's a stud and we're planning on inviting him to be baptized in our next lesson

- we do lots of finding which is fun because I've been all over in this area so it brings back lots of memories from when I was here in the past

- the ward is GOATED and they are trying to feed us as much as they can! also most everyone who I remembered remembered me so that is super fun. bro tateishi made me his Japanese cury for my 5th time!! it's soooo good and when I was here in the past he would always make it so on sunday he had us and the sisters over to have it!

- prez is golfing with us in two weeks!

okay I'll try and send you photos today and also call BYU-I about coming to school in the winter. and I might call later today, but if not I love you tons have a great week!
