March 20, 2023 Letter to Family&Friends

What's up friends and family! It has been quite a while since I have written, haha. As far as I can tell I haven't written one of these since December! Rather than fill you guys in on every single solitary week that I have missed, I am just going to write out a little life update on some of the really important/cool things that have been happening on my mission! Since I last wrote I have:

- been transferred to a new area
- started training a new missionary (Elder Horrocks, aka the GOAT)
- watched my friend Rodney enter the waters of baptism
- played countless hours of basketball on p-day (some of that time theoretically could have been used to write emails I guess...)
- developed life-long relationships with many people that live out here
- gained a closer relationship with Jesus Christ, and my Heavenly Father

Overall, the last couple of months have been amazing! The area I am in is Okanogan/Coulee Dam and it is awesome! Most of the towns in my area are smaller so there is a very quiet, chill vibe in this area that I honestly dig. Also it is a really pretty area and the weather has been in the 40s and 50s lately, so that has been way nice. I am still companions with Elder Horrocks. We just started our second transfer together so I get to finish his training which I am hyped for! Elder Horrocks is a dawg and mega humble and is a spiritual giant so I learn a ton from him. He has a great desire to love and serve the people here and he's also just a great friend. Fingers crossed that we get to stay companions for a 3rd transfer! Rodney is an 83 year old man who we have been meeting with for a couple of months. He was baptized March 11th and has a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon. He read the entire thing by our second visit! I feel blessed that I am able to know Rodney and have been super inspired by his example. Also he wants to take me out fishing on his boat, after the mission, and I love fishing so that's a “W”. Rodney is just one of many amazing people who I have been blessed to meet out here.

I wanted to end this email with a brief spiritual thought. The other day at church we were talking about the scriptures found in Matthew 11:28-30 which read;

28 ¶ aCome unto me, all ye that blabour and are heavy laden, and I will give you crest.

29 Take my ayoke upon you, and blearn of me; for I am cmeek and dlowly in eheart: and ye shall find frest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is aeasy, and my burden is light.

I know that if we yoke ourselves with Jesus Christ and we strive to come unto Him that our burdens will be light. We will still have hard times and we will still have burdens to bear, but with Jesus Christ's help we can overcome anything and find joy along the way. As we draw nearer to Easter I invite you all to make Jesus Christ the focus of your life and then watch for miracles to happen. I can promise you that any burdens, challenges or struggles you may face will be made lighter.

I love you all! I will write next week (or in 3 months, haha). Have a great week!

-Elder Adams
